Seven Technical Methods For Heat Dissipation Of Led Explosion-Proof Lights

The technical problem of LED explosion-proof light industry is the problem of heat dissipation. Since 2005, we began to concentrate on the problem of heat dissipation. With continuous improvement of technology, we have developed seven kinds of radiators and finally invented the core technology of LED heat dissipation.

1. What is the role of heat dissipation

The role of heat dissipation is to effectively distribute the heat of the LED explosion-proof light and ensure that the LED explosion-proof light works at the ideal temperature. Excellent heat dissipation can prolong the service life of LED explosion-proof lamp, improve the light efficiency and reduce the light decay of LED.

2. the evaluation standard of high quality radiator

1) the coefficient of thermal conductivity is large, so that the heat transfer is fast, the heat can be quickly transferred to the surface of the radiator.

2) The heat dissipation area per unit weight is large, i.e. K coefficient, K= heat dissipation area/weight. A larger K value can make the product light in weight and small in volume under the same heat dissipation effect

3.LED explosion-proof lights are now on the market mainly have the following seven kinds of heat dissipation technology, let's talk about the advantages and disadvantages of various heat dissipation technology:

(1)Die-cast aluminum radiator is used in LED explosion-proof lights and lanterns. First of all, we consider the dangerous environment of LED explosion-proof lights and lanterns

Advantages: because it is die-casting, can be made into a more beautiful shape, high safety factor.

Disadvantages: low thermal conductivity, 96W/m.k

Thermal conductivity is only 96/226 of sunflower or cold-pressed aluminum = 42.48%, resulting in heat can not be very good transfer to the surface of the radiator for distribution, so that the LED chip and the surface of the radiator has a large temperature difference, LED heat dissipation is not good 

Being die-casting forming, cooling blade can't do a very long, otherwise the blade will break in stripping, therefore, the unit weight of the die casting aluminum radiator cooling area (i.e., K) will be small, generally for o. 14 m/kg, coupled with its coefficient of thermal conductivity is small, therefore, in order to achieve the same cooling effect, its weight is solid 2 to 4 times of sunflower.

(2) Hollow sunflowers

Advantages: large radiator area, large thermal conductivity (226W/ M.K), good heat transfer, fast heat dissipation.

Disadvantages: the need for heat conduction plate will LED heat transfer to the sunflower, but the heat conduction plate and hollow sunflower can not be closely attached, resulting in heat can not be very good transfer to the sunflower surface for distribution, so that the LED chip and the radiator surface has a large temperature difference, LED chip heat dissipation is not good.

(3) Air cooling technology

Advantages: small size, light weight, good heat dissipation effect.

Disadvantages: fan life is short, easy to break, especially in the place of bad environment, fan will be quickly sealed by dust, oil, etc., so that the fan stops cooling failure.

(4) Heat pipe technology

1、Heat pipe does not have any cooling effect, only has the role of heat conduction. In order to exhaust the heat derived from the heat pipe as soon as possible, the radiator must also be designed with a large area of heat dissipation fins and design with good heat dissipation performance. LED lamps using heat pipe technology can only solve the thermal resistance problem between lamp bead (light source) and metal radiator. And the radiator also depends on the heat fins and air to complete the heat exchange.

2、The application of heat pipe radiator will be restricted by many factors. In the heat dissipation application of a specific product such as LED lamps, the heat pipe will be subject to more restrictions. For example, the LED lamp may encounter a wide range of changes in the ambient temperature from -20to 60outdoors, and the heat pipe heat dissipation can not be well adapted to this working condition. In addition, because of the thin-walled structure of the heat pipe, the evaporated gas inside creates high pressure, which makes the heat pipe vulnerable to breakage. In the event of unexpected breakage or even a tiny trachoma, the heat transfer effect of the heater will be lost, and the expensive LED light will burn down in a very short time.

(5) Water cooling technology

Advantages: good heat dissipation effect, small size.

Disadvantages: complex structure, a long time may be sealed failure, there is a hidden danger of leakage.

(6) Cold aluminium

Advantages: high thermal conductivity, 226W/ m.K, fast heat transfer, the temperature of the entire radiator is basically equal, good heat dissipation, LED chip and heat dissipation surface temperature difference at about 4, that is, the temperature of the radiator surface plus 4is the temperature of LED chip. 

Disadvantages: because there is no convection effect, its heat dissipation performance is worse than solid sunflower.

Because of the process, the heat dissipation blade can not be made too thin and too long, so the heat dissipation area per unit weight is not very large, the product is heavier than the solid sunflower radiator, and the volume is larger.

(7) Solid sunflowers

Advantages: high thermal conductivity, 226W/m.k, fast heat transfer, the temperature of the entire radiator is basically equal, heat dissipation is very good, LED chip and radiator surface temperature difference at about 3, that is, the temperature of the radiator surface plus 3is the temperature of the LED chip. That's why the solid sunflower radiator from Sunway Appliances heats up faster than other brands.

Because of the compacted material of extruded aluminum profile, the heat dissipation blade can be made very long and the heat dissipation area is very large. Its unit weight heat dissipation area (i.e. K) is very large, up to O.42/kg, the product size is small, light weight.

Disadvantages: product shape slightly single.
